The eXtreme Temperature Rescue Alert System is designed to protect children (and even pets and other vulnerable lives) from death or injury in hot cars. Whether children are left in cars (either knowingly or unknowingly) or whether they enter vehicles on their own, XTRAS can prevent a dangerous situation.
On average, 37 children die each year from vehicular heatstroke. In 2017, that number climbed to 43. Since 1990, over 800 children have died in a hot vehicle. It is a tragedy that happens to even the most loving of parents and caregivers, a tragedy that is preventable. (Source: KidsandCars.org)
So often people mistakenly believe that such a tragedy could never happen to them, that they would never forget a child in a vehicle, but accidents happen even to the most vigilant. In fact, 28% of children who have died from heatstroke in vehicles entered on their own unbeknownst to their caretakers.
This hot car death prevention device monitors the CO2, temperature, sound, and motion within a vehicle and notifies caretakers and even first responders of an emergency situation.
The JDK Technology Solutions team is currently testing the second prototype of the XTRAS device.
